SH:Viking Assault being developed for World in Conflict

While the SilentHeroes-project started as a FPS we have always been very interested in expanding the experience into other genres. And over the years several conceptual mods have been done or started for several games. In most cases the feeling we got from the tests was that the engines at hands wouldn't give the gaming experience and feeling we where looking for. Until now.
While SH was done for the BF42-engine, developed by the at the time Swedish studio DICE, our next SH-projects game-engine is infact also developed by a Swedish studio. But the reason for choosing to develope a mod for World in Conflict, by Massive Entertainment, has nothing to do with the origin of the developers however. Its just that we find both the original game and the mod-experience so much fun that it becomes the obious choice. The game is just that good.
So it's official: SH:VA is in development, for the game World in Conflict.
And here is some screenshots taken in medium quality. Yes, will make sure it's in high quality in the future...

As a side-note, one of our newer teammembers of the SH:VA Team, Krakel, has taken some beautiful highquality screenshots from the development of a map for the mod. They can be found in the VIP-section of the forum.

Holy buttplug Batman!!!!
Can't wait to see how this turns out! WIC is a great game but it really is time for a good mod for it. And we have all been waiting for SH:VA.
Somehow this made top news on the giant portal http://www.bengan.com

Hoppas ni beghåller BF1942-arketekturen så man känner igen sig i spelet. Finns det någon chans att man kan komma att få spela gamla kända banor som myren i WIC: VA ?

SH:VA is a new concept, but we would be daft not to include some familiarity even if it is a new mod.

Um...you know there is a difference between a FPS where you are 50cm from your team mate (and everything is modeled for that) and an RTS where most people play at an altitude of 200m up in the air?
Besides, try to display as much units and action from the same perspective in H&D2 as in WIC and you will see that you might be mistaken about the performance and visuals... (and comparing touched up high res shots on highest setting vs untouched shots on medium setting isn't really fair).
Ps. Fun fact: On the second linked site above, see if you can find my name on this page: http://www.hidden-and-dangerous.net/hd/files.php#misc Ds.

Brilliant!
Got a question though. Will the voice commands (or whatever they're called) be in the native tongues of each respective nation or will it be accented English? Like are the Swedes going to speak Swedish or English with a Swedish accent?

am i the only one who loves the fact that the voice commands are in swedish?
having left ur beautiful country SH is about the only practise i get and i would
hate to see SH:VA keeping the original voices of WIC.
now, do the devs need to take my opinion in consideration, this very egoistic
opinion? of course they do! my wish is their command...................or was it the
other way around? (the smiley is supposed to be confused)
OT.
daylight saving time....an hour ahead or...?

Just remember these two simple squad orders:
'Spring forward! ' & 'Fall Back!'
Norhern hemisphere only: 'March forward!'

All the team members are very busy with their daytime jobs, which makes modmaking progress very slow. As soon as this situation changes, you'll be the first ones to know!

I just uninstalled WiC so you don't have to hurry for me anymore...
Not many brave soles left to play decent WiC. Last 6 months have been all about waiting for AA that never comes (support thinks artillery is soo fun) or playing against a stacked team with no teamplay on youre own side.
